Today the Room 6 students presented their recycled solutions to reduced waste.
One group designed a "class recycling centre".

Another group of students created a recipe book with recipes using left-over food. Delicious Shepherds Pie and Banana Blueberry Muffins - Yum!

Recycled art was a popular choice. As was creating toys to play with such as Blake's gunship below.

The children in Room 6 have created some amazing Geometry Pattern Art. See below:

This term Room 6 have been learning how to make friendship bracelets. Friendship bracelets can be made from recycled material as well as left over wool.
Some amazing science projects were completed last term. Children learned; which surfaces gave the best bounce, whether vinegar speeds up rusting, how to write in invisible ink, how to create a cyclone in a bottle, and whether they could change a flower's colour.
That was just a few of the wide variety of science topics explored.
Thank you to the parents who came and enjoyed the learning.

Room 6 students are scientists. Individually, in pairs and in small groups, students have chosen a "question" to investigate. Some topics are - What natural substance stains the most? Will vinegar speed up rusting? Which household substance reduces friction?

We have been learning about list poems. Here is a list poem that Olivia's friends wrote about her:

My friend Olivia....
has a wonderful smile like a sunrise in the morning
has a puppy dog kind heart
rubs my back when I am sad
dances like Autumn leaves in a wild wind

Every week Room 6 apply their maths strategies to real-life situations. Here is one of the problems from this week.

1. Lucy has 64 huhu grubs. She loses 38 of them to Charlotte who finds them very tasty. How many huhu grubs does Lucy have left?
 Can you solve this problem?
